Clinical Exercise Melbourne, Available at Our Malvern Clinic

Clinical Exercise, Physiotherapy and Osteopathy Led Exercise and Rehabilitation

Our Clinical Exercise services are available at our Malvern clinic in Melbourne, providing physiotherapy guided exercise to support movement, strength and recovery.

These classes are sometimes referred to as clinical pilates and focus on controlled, progressive exercise tailored to your individual needs.

Whether you are recovering from injury, building strength or looking for a structured way to move more, our approach combines clinical guidance with practical, progressive exercise in a supportive environment.

What Is Clinical Exercise

Clinical Exercise is a physiotherapy-led approach to exercise, designed to support movement, strength and general function.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all program, Clinical Exercise focuses on appropriate exercise selection, technique and progression based on your needs and current capacity.

At our clinic, this may include a combination of:

  • Reformer based exercise
  • Mat work and controlled movement
  • Strength and functional training

Our approach is informed by clinical pilates principles, with an emphasis on movement quality, control and gradual progression.

Our Exercise Physiologists

Our Exercise Physiologists are accredited with Exercise and Sports Science Australia. As well as group sessions, they also conduct 1 on 1 appointments as well.

If you can’t find a suitable group time, let us know, as we are always adding more!

Our Clinical Exercise Options

Supervised strength and mobility in a structured class format. These sessions follow a shared program and are suited to people wanting guided exercise in a supportive environment. Delivered by physiotherapists and osteopaths.

Stretch and Mobility

Low-intensity movement focused on flexibility and recovery. These sessions provide a calm, guided environment designed to support mobility, flexibility and ease of movement.

GLA:D Program for Osteoarthritis

Structured physiotherapy support for hip and knee osteoarthritis. This evidence based program combines education and guided exercise within a supervised Clinical Exercise setting.

Not Sure Which Session is Right for You

If you’re rehabbing something specific or experiencing pain, we recommend starting with a Clinical Exercise Group.

If you’re looking for general strength and mobility, a Clinical Exercise Class may be a suitable option.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is clinical exercise?

Clinical exercise is a physiotherapy-led approach to movement and rehabilitation. It focuses on improving strength, mobility and overall function through guided, structured exercise tailored to the individual.

Clinical exercise is often associated with clinical pilates, with both approaches focusing on controlled movement, strength and progression.

Clinical exercise and clinical pilates are often used interchangeably. Both focus on controlled, low-impact exercise designed to support movement, strength and rehabilitation.

At our clinic, we use a clinical exercise approach that draws on similar principles, with programs guided by physiotherapists or osteopaths.

If you are new or managing an injury, an initial assessment is usually recommended. This helps determine the most appropriate class type and ensures exercises are suited to your needs and current capacity.

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely is recommended. Closed-toe footwear may be required depending on the type of session.
