Exercise Physiology Now available!
Individual, small group (1:3) and group fitness classes are now up and running at our Cheltenham clinic with our brand new EP! Exercise Physiology is perfect for your rehabilitation and fitness goals.
What Is Exercise Physiology?
Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university-qualified allied health professionals who tailor individualised exercise interventions for the prevention and management of acute, sub-acute and chronic medical conditions and injuries.
AEPs specialise in the prescription of exercise and lifestyle interventions and carry out a thorough assessment before designing, implementing and evaluating safe and effective exercise programs. These personalised interventions are exercise-based and include health and physical activity education, advice and support.

Can i claim exercise physiology on prIvate health insurance?
Yes, this is a possibility!
Most private health insurance extras now include exercise physiology. However we recommend you check with your personal health insurance to ensure you are covered before commencing your first class.
As a bonus you can also claim your private health insurance rebate on the spot, using our HICAPS terminal.

How are the classes run?
Our larger group classes contain a maximum number of 6 people. There are 2 options to choose from. A circuit based fitness class and our pilates/rehabilitation class. To progress into these classes we require an initial 1:1 EP session to properly examine and assess your body to help us recommend the correct class for you. Proper form and technique is crucial when exercising and we want to make sure you can perform what is required before you enter our classes. We do this to ensure we prevent any injuries!
Exercise Physiology cont.
AEPs can work with you to manage your health concerns by assisting you to improve your quality of life, restore optimal health and physical function and achieve personal goals using behaviour change and a clinical exercise approach.
AEPs work with people with a wide range of health concerns including:
- Musculoskeletal disease or injury
- Cardiovascular disease
- Respiratory / Pulmonary disease
- Metabolic disease
- Neurological disease
- Mental health conditions
- Cancer
If you are looking to become more physically active and aren’t sure where to start, an AEP can help with how to exercise right for you. AEPs can also assist with injury prevention, sports-specific and functional training for those people wanting to take their fitness or performance to the next level.
Services delivered by an AEP are covered by most private health insurers and are also claimable under compensable schemes such as Medicare.

What do i bring/wear?
Loose fitting clothing is the ideal attire
to wear during your exercise class. It is
also a good idea to bring yourself a
bottle of water. Mats are provided but
if you would prefer to use your own
you are more than welcome to do so.

I currently have an injury, can i still do the classes?
Yes. Our exercise physiologist is well trained to modify your exercises based on your presenting complaint. In fact AEP's are fantastic at rehabilitating injuries. During your initial 1:1 session your injury will be examined, be sure to let your EP know any injuries you are suffering from.

How many sessions should i do?
Your EP will discuss with you their recommendation of how many sessions you may require during your initial consult to help with your rehabilitation. A home exercise program will always be provided so that you can recover as quickly as possible. However you may wish to continue your exercise in the 1:1, 1:3 or group classes to further progress or maintain your strength and fitness levels!
